Well… we got it right this week. Didn’t hurt any less for you though, did it?
[ it’s not mocking, just… making the point. ]
If it was easy we’d all be experts. People are complicated, and what we want is bound to clash because of that. We had a lot on our plates yesterday, so it was always going to be a tough one.
[ though he still strongly believes everything about that one was wrong since cloud came back to life. (and cloud was a jerk to him today so now he kind of wishes he hadn't come back if clementine was going to have to die for it either way.) ]
But I mean— with that many murders this time, they probably weren't all because of shadows, right? So even if he was one of them, we should have been able to find one of the others who actually chose to do it and hold them countable instead of the one who didn't do it willingly! So, like... even if it was technically right, it wasn't the most right... you know?
[ he's not sure if the way he's phrasing this even makes sense himself. he's tired. ]
No, that's part of the frustration. It makes it easier to deal with everything when the logic is to find the "right" case and solve that one. If someone killed of their own volition, it's easier to call that one the worse crime and divert your attention to that.

Death is still death though. And the people who care for Hope would still want to know what happened to him, regardless of his killer's motivations.
I'm not saying we shouldn't have found out the truth behind that one too! Just that... we should have found all of it, so we could make sure the one who was punished wasn't the one who deserved it the least! And if we could only find one, then... it sucks that we found the one we did instead of one of the other ones.
I don't know who deserves it more or least. We're all in a tricky situation. It's unfair that Kazunari was forced into something he wouldn't have done, and ideally he shouldn't have been the one punished. I don't disagree.
But I understand why people are taking action.

Are you planning on hiding away in here for the rest of the evening?
[ he frowns a little. it's not like he doesn't kind of understand it too, and maybe it was especially bad this week when everyone was probably seeing memories of their hostages, but... it's still murder.
at the question, he shakes his head. ]
No... I'm gonna go back out there and see him again later tonight.

Yeah. I didn't do that last week, and... Bucky was my friend too, and I didn't want the same thing to happen again.
I'm... trying to learn from these and do better, but. It's really hard.

Good.
Just keep trying though. We all want to try and solve things too, so bounce your ideas off ours and we'll figure something out next time. Right?
