Partially, yeah. It also depends on the amount of detail you want to put into it, so you'd have to be more careful where you put the paint strokes - and to give you time to sleep, too.
That's not long compared to my usual style, though. The techniques are different, and it takes a lot of time and concentration to get it right. Those can take weeks to finish up the way you want it, but it's always worth it in the end.
Not everyone does! That's part of why they say it's a dying art. But I always learn something new every time I paint something, so it's worth it to me. Even more so when my art brings a smile to someone's face.
[ he's just casually adding a stroke here or there as they talk, defining the ocean waves. ]
My dad took me to an art museum one day when I was in middle school. I liked what I saw, so I asked for some art materials for my birthday, and I started drawing whenever I had a second to spare - just little things, like whatever I saw around the house or stuff from photographs. Seeing all that art made me want to paint, too, but I had to learn the basics first, you know? So I taught myself.
Actually, I don't think it's really either? We just went inside because it was really hot that day. I don't think either of us was thinking about where we were going.
He goes to galleries where my art is set up now, but I don't think he really goes out of his way to see other stuff.
Right? I love it when my family and friends come to see my work! My fave is making them guess which painting's mine the first time they come to a gallery; they never get it right.
Not really. I've just been doing something different in the prism because my usual style takes a while to do... longer than I figured we had before, and def longer than we have now.
Usually I make things more like the paintings in my room. [ nihonga, that is. ] Apparently that's surprising! Who knew, right?
Oh! I don't think I would have expected that either... but I guess my taste in music surprised some people too, so maybe we're just good at exceeding expectations!
[ liking something is not the same as creating it, but sure. ]
A-anyway, that's really cool. If we ever get a good art room at the hotel maybe you can do a show there sometime.
Hm? But don't all the smartest people love classical music? I like listening to it when I need to focus, too.
You mean if there's an art room somewhere...? IDK if they'd tell you this early... but if they do, I def want to know about it! It'd be something to look forward to!
I'm kind of curious what they thought you'd listen to instead. Classical seems like what you'd expect from a lawyer, IMO.
[ hm?? ]
They did do tasks for healing, so it's not impossible that they could do it for other things, too. But I wouldn't want you to do that for me... if they tell you it's possible, just let me know? Then I'll take care of it.
Yeah, I'm not sure either... but also I don't know if there's really a typical kind of music for lawyers? My pops was a prosecutor too, but he's a big classic rock fan! If you saw him you'd definitely never mistake him for someone who listens to classical or opera or whatever.
[ and you would... probably have a lot of questions... but, anyway. ]
I mean, buying some paint's gotta be easier than magically healing someone, right? It probably wouldn't be that big of a deal! ...But yeah, okay.

[ glances back to the canvas with a smile ]
I am an artist, after all! I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it before we leave, though.

I think with a canvas of this size, though, it'd only take a few days, give or take?

Huh... How'd you get into it, anyway?
...Um, though if I'm slowing you down I can stop talking.

That's nice that he likes looking at your stuff!

Ohh, if we do, I hope it's soon. I'd need time to actually paint things before I can do a show.

There were a couple of things I wanted to ask the staff about soon, so maybe I can go ahead and ask about that too...

Yeah! Or like, maybe just if we can get some good paints and stuff, barring that...

Maybe! I just think that if they do exchanges like that, you should use it for something you need instead.

I don't know if I'll really have— well, I guess it depends on if I can get them to do the resizing the bathroom thing...

See~? You do have something to ask about!
