No, I mean...

[ i can't believe yuri leclerc is telling someone that they should be honest with their feeling what a hypocrite. ]

Actually tell him if you're worried you've done something that he didn't like, that you've noticed he's not using your nickname. That kind of thing.

… Maybe he needs a bit of time.

[ he sighs. ] You can’t force things out of people. And if he’s saying you haven’t done anything wrong, then it sounds like it’s a him issue, and it may not be directly related to you.

We’re in a weird situation. People’s emotions are all over the place a lot of the time. And also — [ baps him on the forehead. ] So what if “everyone likes Estelle”, if you enjoy spending time with her and she enjoys spending time with you then just enjoy your friendship for what it is, without comparing it to other people’s friendships with her.

Historically, it doesn't get better, sorry to say.

And the more things we see succeed and fail, and the more pitfalls killers learn to look out for...

It's like a scale, Sebastian. We pick up things, but so do the people attempting murder.

Double edged sword. You don't usually have the chance to learn on the job for things like this, so to speak.

I think you might need to take all your trial knowledge and put it to one side for the moment. You don't normally investigate a murder during the trial to convict someone, do you?

Yet they keep doing it. I guess no one can accuse us of preconceived bias if we don’t even have a culprit.

[ ah. there he goes.

yuri gives him a look, and then wanders over and takes a seat at his table. ]

You okay there?

[ ... sigh. ]

You don't need to act like you're fine if you're not, Sebastian.

[ let it all out big guy. ]

...

There's nothing we can do about who died, and why. Nor can we do anything about Kazunari and what happened with him and Hope. Things are the way they are now -- you don't have to like it, but you should think about where you want to go from here.

[ there's a pause, and then he adds: ]

It's a lot harder to strike out on your own and bring up things people don't want to talk about than it is to hide away and go with the flow. You had a suspicion, and raised it. Harrow wasn't wrong you made a good point to bring up your concerns, and with the amount of crossover between the cases it was easy to get cases and their evidence mixed.

You were trying to help a friend.

Well… we got it right this week. Didn’t hurt any less for you though, did it?

[ it’s not mocking, just… making the point. ]

If it was easy we’d all be experts. People are complicated, and what we want is bound to clash because of that. We had a lot on our plates yesterday, so it was always going to be a tough one.
